Meteorological Musings

I just have to point out that Mother Nature has lost her mind. Seriously. It is the first week of January...in Connecticut. And as I write this at 7:15 in the evening, it is a balmy 57° outside. And you can see in the little graphic what we expect tomorrow. This is wrong!

We've got our bulky winter coats hanging by the door. Gloves stuffed in the pockets. Various hats and scarfs nearby. Forty tubes of chapstick ready to fight off the dry lips from the winter winds.

Nothing. No snow. No ice. No arctic breeze.

I'm not really complaining. Just pointing out. Just in case you're keeping track of signs of the end times. Cause this might be one.

Here from Michele's.

It is so chilly here in southern California. Not icy chilly, but cold enough at night to freeze. My plants don't like it. And today we've had cold wind all day, enough to keep us all indoors.

Michele sent me over, Em.

Same story here. I live down in North Carolina and we're setting records for warm weather. I think it got over 70f today. Just unbelievable for January. I hope we don't get a frigid February to make up for this warm spell.

We broke temperature records today ... it's the warmest day in January every ... 11C!

Whoohoo! I love it!!!

Here from Michele tonight and this is a sure sign of GLOBAL WARMING.
Frightening in it's ramifications though for the moment, it feels lovely.
And here, in L.A. it is cold. But this is not so unusual...we have "cold spells"..I mean COLD for here...yet....yet....Our Planet is in real trouble....! (Help!!!)
And they say that by Wednesday, it will be 81 here...Tonight? 48...?
This is weird and wrong.
GLOBAL WARMING. We have screwed our environment and continue to do so.

Oh yea. They're saying its going to be in the 60's in NYC as well. I must admit, I'm to blame. I bought my daughters winter coats and boots. If I had NOT gotten these things, we'd be up to our eyes in snow. Here via Michele.

My boyfriend works for NOAA. He says that the climatologist say that the end of January is going to be very cold. I guess we'll see.

I'll be the one traipsing around CT today in shorts, but I'm guessing I won't be alone!

I wonder what could be causing it. Bush has declared there is no such thing as global warming. Must be a terrorist plot...

We're had it unseasonably warm in Tennessee also. While it feels good now, the downside comes next spring and summer when the weeds and bugs overwhelm us. Need a few weeks of freezing temps to nip them in the bud every year.

Good Saturday morning from Michele's. You have a nice joint here. My single New Year resolution is to add a few new bloggers and perhaps become acquainted. Lucky you. I bookmarked yours and will come back some more. And maybe some more.

Happy New Year and all that.

I live in the northeast too and my boys are desperate for a snowstorm! We were at a party yesterday and playing football and soccer outside without even a jacket.

My husband believes the Earth may actually be hurtling toward the sun ... You never know ;)

Thanks for checking out my blog, btw. It's always nice to get new readers!

We have no snow here. :(

It started flurrying on the Garden State Parkway yesterday morning, and I assumed it was a dust storm of some sort, having eliminated the possibility of snow, if not the memory, from my consciousness.
