A Dinner At School

Tonight was a very nice evening for our family. Daughter13 was installed as a member of the Leo Club at her middle school. For those who aren't familiar with it, the Leo Club is the youth service program of the Lion's Club.

When she first came home and said she wanted to be in the Leo Club, we asked what that was. She said she didn't know for sure - just some kind of club that helped people. That sounded good to us!

So she has been busy this year doing bowling fund raisers, gathering money for a boundless playground, and collecting used eyeglasses to aid those who can't afford them. And tonight the club members made dinner and served their families. And the dinner was followed by a small program where new members were formally installed as members.

Daughter13 is a good kid. I think we'll keep her. :)

Congratulations to your daughter!

You have done a fine job raising her for her to be so community oriented at such a young age.

Good to see that you're going to keep the kid. Actually, I didn't know that you could return them ...

Kids who have a desire to help others... certainly a special breed. I agree... KEEP her! :-)

I teach in a custody school and it is a breath of fresh air when I hear of teens such as your daughter. You have definitely done something right! :-) Congrats!

She sounds like a great kid! I wish she could come babysit for my kids! It's so hard to find kids I trust.

Good to know that there are good kids out there at that age. Hopefully, my kids will become one of them.

She does, indeed, seem like quite a kid.

Is the Lion's club better there than here? By better I mean, is it more than a lot of elderly people talking about how much they like Kentucky Fried Chicken? Because the folks here? They need a good plan of action.

LEO club is GOOD.
The fact that your daughter has decided to participate at her age is a very good sign.

I teach kids her age and they tend more towards "Veronica is going to whip Bessie's ass today because she stole her boy friend."

Be proud of your daughter

Thanks for all the kind words! Radioactive....we might be able to work something out. A 'field trip' might be good for her! :)
Chick...nothing wrong with a bucket of KFC, but I know what you mean. The club here seems very active, so that's good.

Yes that's a keeper for sure! Sounds like she's the result of a good kid with good parents. The Lions Club helps thousands.

And what *was* the dinner? Lemurs? Ibex? I'm trying to think what little lions would catch and serve...
