Two weeks since I wrote my last post. I don't think I've ever skipped that long. And why have I been absent from the keyboard. Because it is the end of the school year and I'm going insane!!!
Tomorrow will be the last day of school where I work. And that last couple of weeks have been hellish. Nothing bad. Just more busy than I've ever been in my life. Going in early. Working late. Bringing work home.
My contract requires me to work a year-round schedule, so I don't get summers off. But I will get a few days off prior to summer school. And every moment off will be heavenly.
And Monday will be the final day of school for the kids. And over the past couple of weeks, they have had 17,000 projects and papers and posters to complete. It was unreal. It makes their study for finals seems almost insignificant in terms of how much time they've invested. The projects just demand so much time and effort and work. And they require parental participation. We don't do their work for them. But it still involves support, encouragement, trips to the store for poster board, cotton balls, craft sand, glue sticks, more ink for the printer for all the photos they've printed for posters.
When Monday evening rolls around, there's a cold beer in the fridge with my name on it!
And then I'll get back to writing and visiting your places. Cause I miss ya!

I think I just drank your beer. Sorry. I'll leave a few bucks on the kitchen counter before I go.
You guys are still in school? The kids here have been out for two weeks.
Have "fun"!
I can't say I miss the end of the year projects. I have this memory of binding 300 creative writing journals while standing in an non air conditioned computer lab in June. If they paid me more as a teacher I would have just taken them all to kinkos. LOL
you should make it 2 beers, sounds like you earned them. looking forward to your return.
I thought you'd abandoned us. But welcome pseudo-back until it's for real.
my kids just finished today.....thank goodness!! It's been the same here...busy busy busy!! Now we can all chill :) Enjoy the beer!
I did miss your writing :)
I gather you'll have more time from now on, while my kids finished today ...I will have much LESS time to blogging!
We miss you too. Hope you get to relax a little.

Glad your ok! I was missing you!
*Throwing* another cold one your way!
Glad to hear from ya, Em!!! Starting to wonder where you'd snuck off to. Maybe a road-trip in that new little red car of yours, or something.
Year-round school.... Gotta say, I rather wish it was a national thing. I'd love to see my daughter have a shorter summer break, with more consistent schooling.
Enjoy your beer, I hope the few days off you have are totally relaxing & refreshing!
i've been out for a couple of weeks.
but you are right. the last couple of weeks are crazy!!!!...
ummmm, i didn't wait for my beer
I know the feeling and know that beer will be profoundly good on Monday. Savor it!
Why is this end-of-year more busy than ever before do you think?
Hope you get a breather before round 2! LOL
I know the end of year is busy for parents, but I can't imagine what it must be like for teachers too!
Been wondering if you took a wrong turn somewhere or fell off a cliff. Yeah, we're ready for you to come on back. And bring us all a cold one...
We missed you too! Enjoy that beer!!!
we miss you too!
Happy father's Day!!! Drink a cold beer!
Thought you'd just driven off in that little red corvette of yours! Welcome back!
So, uh ... by "going insane" do you mean that you're just stressed out given the intensity of your schedule these last few days, or do you mean literally that you're going criminally insane?
Enjoy your few days off before summer school starts. Take it easy. Relax. And just to be safe, avoid anything that might push you over the edge.
My kids got out last week. I dislike those school projects! What I dislike even more is when my 7 year old forgets to bring the assignment home over spring break so instead of having all of spring break to run to the store and work on things, she ends up with 3 days. Which also means I have to run to the store "RIGHT NOW" for things. It sometimes seems like as much work for me as it is for her!
Good to see you're back!
I am so glad my last two weeks was over two weeks ago.
Now it is relax till inservice time.I hate teaching other teachers
TV
I wondered where you were. I hope you are enjoying your days off.
Oy - not projects! My oldest always seems to need something at 9:45, 15 minutes before the store closes and the thing is due the next day. One of the reasons I love summer!
Welcome Back! It's now officially break time for you! I've been in a cycle of busyness myself. The kids just got out of school, and we're in the transition of getting used to everyone being at home and Mom still needing to get her chores done. Also, my 8 year old teenage daughter turned 9 today, and my 10 yo son turns 1 in 3 weeks, so the fun never ends in this domicile. I'll take your beer and raise you a glass of viognier! All the best on your break.
I have gone long without writing... then I decided that when I pass by the computer I'll save a blank draft for that day, then when I get the time I write and publish it... that's what I'm doing now anyway. I just did 3, but I have 5 more to go. So much to say, so little time to say it.
glad you're back. hope to see you again soon! might have taken last beer. sorry 'bout that.
Don't worry, we can wait. Share with us the beverage of choice.
