Today is the big day! Not for me...but for Son16. Today he officially becomes Son17. No party or presents from friends. His social skill deficits really never make that possible. But plenty of attention from the rest of our family. A nice dinner out at the restaurant of his choosing. An ice cream cake. He was very specific about wanting an ice cream cake! LOL And hopefully, he'll enjoy his day.

How is it possible that I have never had an ice cream cake? I see them in the store all the time and I think, "boy, that looks good" and then I buy a bag of salad.

Happy Birthday to Son17!!!!! I hope that the supper out with family, and his icecream cake all meet his expectations & hopes!!! Nothing wrong with not being a party person. I've never liked birthday parties either, and my favorite birthday was my 13th when Dad took the family out to my favorite resteraunt for seafood, and made me a raspberry-topped cheesecake instead of birthday cake. Sometimes (oftentimes) simple really IS best!

I once asked for an icecream cake for one of my birthday's from my mum - she made it herself - it was a baked Alaska (is that the same thing?). I think that is the one and only time I've had baked Alaska - maybe I should try baking one for myself!
